What are the drop-off and pick-up times?
Buses generally arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. For students not enrolled in before care, car line student drop off begins at 7:45 (upper school) and 8:15 (lower school). Car line dismissal begins at 3:00 for Upper school and 3:25 for Lower School. Buses generally leave MDIS by 3:45 p.m.
Are before and aftercare included in tuition?
Before care and aftercare are an additional monthly charge.
Where are you located?
MDIS is a Maryland private high school located on a beautiful nine-acre campus at 6135 Old Washington Rd, Elkridge, MD, 22075. We are conveniently located and easily accessible from the greater Baltimore metropolitan region, Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas. Many of our students travel from Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, and Prince George’s County.
How often do students have Spanish, and will any other languages be offered?
In PYP, students will have Spanish 2 hours/week. In MYP/DP, it will be every other day or daily, depending on grade level. French classes may potentially be added in the near future.
What is the average class size?
PYP classes average about 12-13 students per class. For classes approaching 17+ students, a teacher assistant may be brought in. MYP/DP classes average about 10-12 students per class.
What are the qualifications of the teachers?
All teachers at MDIS hold a Bachelor’s degree, at minimum, with several having Master’s degrees. Maryland state teaching certification is not required for private school teachers, however, our teachers do complete training in the International Baccalaureate curriculum approach. Additionally, many of our teachers also have international teaching experience.
